Fellow Rotarians Today was a very important meeting for Rotary Club Sunrise as we greeted the first female District Governor of Rotary District 7020, DG Diana White, and her husband, PP Roger White and inducted Sian Evans and Nagy Darwish into the membership of our Club. Our weekly breakfast meeting this morning got off to a rousing start with noticeable enthusiasm from our Sargeant-at-Arms. Director Marvin expertly delivered the hospitality report and President Ken made a few announcements before turning the podium over to DG Diana for the induction of the new members. It was a proud moment for Sian and Nagy as their sponsors, Colin and Rosemarie, presented their Rotary pins under the direction of DG Diana. We all rose to our feet to welcome the newest Rotarians and members of our Club.

DG Diana addressed the Club, highlighting District 7020's continued involvement with Haiti, latest developments in the Rotary Foundation and encouraging us to continue working hard to achieve our Club's goals for Rotary Year 2010-2011. She charged Rotary Club Sunrise and Rotarians across District 7020 to conduct their Rotary work with integrity, renewed energy and pride. We were then treated to a vote a thanks by VP Richard that rivaled SAA Heskith's penchant for the spotlight! Amidst his detailed recap of DG Diana's speech and expression of gratitude for the advice she imparted, VP Richard managed to announce the fellowship social planned for this Saturday at UP's Cineplex Bowling alley from 6-9pm in honour of our new inductees and in celebration of Membership Month.

Not to be outdone, President Ken took advantage of DG Diana's presence and listed exhaustively the efforts of Rotary Sunrise to secure the Club of the Month award for the month of August. President Ken was confidently supported by Director Allison who, without hesitation, declared to DG Diana that the Club of the Month award is as good as ours! After a lusty rendition of "Happy Birthday" in acknowledgment of IPP Monica's birthday, SAA Heskith took the floor and led an animated session of fining and happy dollars. Our meeting concluded with the the usual inspirational quote of the week and Rotary Toast, followed by champagne in true Rotary Sunrise spirit. It was great to see so many of us out today and I look forward to fellowship with all on Saturday evening and again at next week's meeting. Rtn Laura Member of the Club Administration Committee
