Tuesday April 7th, 2009: Members of the public now have a wider variety of books to choose from when visiting the Public Library, thanks to the generosity of the new Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town.

This morning, President of the Club Monica Rangeet and Rotary Foundation President Donna Farmer presented 11 boxes with some 350 books to Chief Librarian Suzanne Greenaway.

In handing over the books during the brief ceremony at the Public Library, President Monica explained that this is the very first project of the new Club, which just received its charter from Rotary International as of March 31st, 2009.

"I am extremely happy to be able to donate these books to the Public Library from our very successful book drive conducted during Literacy Month in March," she said. "The books include children's titles, medical journals, "How To" books and others and we hope visitors to the library will find them very useful."

She said the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town stands ready to further assist the Public Library in particular in terms of literary projects in the territory.

Mrs. Greenaway thanked the Club for the donation of books to the Public Library and welcomed the offer of further assistance from the Club. "I can see that we have books here that will benefit the juniors, adolescents and adults and they will be a welcome addition to our library."

Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town is now the third Club to be established in the BVI, joining the Rotary Club of Tortola and the Rotary Club of Road Town. The new Club, which meets Tuesday mornings for breakfast at Maria's By The Sea, will be officially chartered during a ceremony on Aril 25th, 2009 at a venue to be announced.
