The month of October is themed Economic & Community Development month and last night at the Training Division Conference Room over forty people intently listened to four dynamic and engaging speakers on personal finance. Meade Malone of MWM, Ryan Geluk of BDO, Honourable Melvin Turnbull and Dalan Vanterpool from VP Bank each spoke to the audience for roughly 20 minutes each. A question and answer session was given at the end of each speaker.

Attendees were encouraged to among many things, develop a passion, vision, budgets, realistic goals, understanding your “why” and learned about the acronym R.E.P.O.H. ,  which means Repetition, Easy, Pleasure, Often and Habit. Once you repeat something ( saving money for example ) it eventually gets easy, once it becomes easy, you start to enjoy it so then you start to get pleasure from it, then you see yourself doing it often and eventually it becomes a habit.

Light refreshments and snacks were provided and based on the positive comments, our club will be doing this again next year and possibly adding components like sound investment advice and personal and home loans.

On behalf of the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town we would like to thank the guest speakers and those who attended. Special thanks to Community Service Director Storm Wright for organizing and Club Administration Director Travicca Smith for moderating.
